Openings:

Design Director

 This is a role that would suit an ambitious, passionate and motivated designer with 8+ years’ experience of working in traditional architecture.

 As Design Director you will work directly with Larry Boerder to assist in the design development of exterior details and interior elevations for all current and future projects. You will be responsible for taking the overarching conceptual vision of the project and applying this on a room-by-room basis, working with interior designers to make design decisions in relation to cabinet details, kitchens, bathrooms, windows and millwork. You will also be expected to develop key exterior details. As a firm that always prioritises cohesive exterior and interior design and stylistic integrity, you will be required to undertake extensive research either from the library within the office or from exterior sources. As you will be directing a substantial part of the stylistic direction of the project, you will need to work with our many construction partners and with our companion firm Pencil Point Construction.

 Other duties will include:

· Working with project architects and interior designers to develop a coherent design approach;

·        Working with production architects to transpose conceptual sketches into CAD drawings;

·        Reviewing shop drawings and assisting in construction administration;

·        Liaising with General Contractors to develop a bid package and control estimate;

·        Liaising with subcontractors and other vendors.

 Required and desired skills:

·        Familiarity with a wide variety of traditional and classical styles;

·        Substantial pre-existing design experience in the field of traditional architecture, particularly in relation to interiors;

·        Proficient in AutoCAD;

·        Hand drafting ability preferred;

·        Excellent attention to detail;

·        Strong interpersonal skills.
